As we get closer to the September 1st launch of Trêve, I’m proud to share an important milestone in our journey. Trêve has been granted Pending B Corp Certification as a pre-revenue company.
For me, this means much more than a designation. It represents the way I have wanted to build Trêve from the very beginning.
I have always believed that you can’t simply back into sustainability. It has to be considered from the start, with every decision viewed through the lens of its impact on people, the planet, and the quality of what you ultimately create. That philosophy is woven into Trêve.
It Starts With the Ingredients
Sustainability at Trêve starts long before our formulas reach the bottle.
We intentionally source the highest quality ingredients, including upcycled silk peptides, non-synthetic actives, and organic ingredients whenever possible. Approximately 70% of our ingredients come from women-run farms around the world.
But sustainability alone isn't enough. I also wanted Trêve to be truly performance-driven. We choose ingredients because they work, while maintaining a thoughtful standard for what we put on and into our bodies. As a master’s-trained nutritionist, I have spent my career helping people understand the connection between what happens inside the body and overall health. I believe that same thoughtfulness should extend to what we put on our skin. For me, quality, performance, health, and sustainability aren't competing priorities. They should work together. That is the standard I wanted to establish for Trêve from the very beginning.
Thoughtful Packaging
Our approach continues beyond the formula. We chose clear frosted glass for our primary packaging because this glass is highly recyclable over other colored glass. Our bottles are frosted in California using a process that does not rely on acid etching. We use environmentally conscious inks and our secondary packaging is made from 100% post-consumer waste.
We are also members of Pact Collective and participate in their mail-back program, creating another pathway for beauty packaging to be collected and diverted from landfills. None of these decisions were made in isolation. Each reflects the kind of company I want Trêve to become.
Giving Back
For Trêve, impact also means looking beyond the products we make. Ahead of our launch, we were proud to be an in-kind sponsor at the Breast Cancer Prevention Partners Gala in April, supporting an organization whose work is closely connected to our commitment to women's health. Trêve is also committed to giving back through 1% For the Planet For me, this is an important part of building a company with purpose. Giving back shouldn't be something that happens once a business becomes successful. It should be part of the foundation.
Why Pending B Corp Matters to Us
Receiving Pending B Corp Certification as a pre-revenue company is particularly meaningful because these principles aren't being introduced after Trêve has become established. They have been part of the foundation from the beginning.
B Corp Certification evaluates a company's social, environmental and governance impact, providing a framework for businesses to consider their responsibilities to people and the planet alongside traditional business priorities. For Trêve, that way of thinking feels natural. We’re still a small, growing company. We make The Trêve Method in small batches in our lab on Bainbridge Island, Washington, and there is so much ahead of us. But I believe how a company grows matters just as much as how quickly it grows.
As we approach our September 1st launch, I’m proud that we are beginning this next chapter with these principles already embedded in how we operate. Pending B Corp Certification is an important milestone, but it is not the destination. It is a commitment to continue building Trêve with intention and to hold ourselves accountable as we grow. Our goal is to achieve full B Corp Certification as Trêve moves into its next stage. We’re proud of where we are today, and even more committed to where we’re going.
